OPEN CONVERSATION, CLEAR LIMITS
Terms and Community Rules
These rules protect everyone’s freedom to speak and the safety of those listening. By using Talk, you agree to follow them.
Effective September 18, 2026
The essentials in 30 seconds
- Talk is for people aged 18 or over.
- Respect others: no hate, threats, humiliation or exploitation.
- Do not share private contact details or illegal or dangerous content.
- A host may remove someone from their talk; Talk may close a talk or restrict access.
- Any moderation decision may be appealed free of charge by email.
1. Purpose and acceptance
Talk lets people create, join and listen to public audio conversations under a random name. These terms apply whenever you use the site.
By creating or joining a talk, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms and the applicable privacy information.
2. Minimum age
You must be at least 18 to use Talk. By using the service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
If Talk learns that a minor is using the service, access may be ended immediately. A parent or legal guardian may contact us to request appropriate action.
3. Public conversations and anonymity
Talks shown on the home page are public. Anyone with the link may listen and, when a place is available, speak. Do not disclose anything you would not want strangers to know.
A random name does not make you technically untraceable. Talk may use pseudonymised identifiers for safety, abuse prevention and enforcement of removals.
Talk does not record audio. We cannot prevent a participant from using an external device or application to record. Recording or redistributing another person without the required permission is prohibited.
4. Prohibited content and behaviour
You must not use Talk to publish, request, encourage or facilitate illegal content or conduct that infringes another person’s rights.
- harassment, bullying, repeated humiliation, threats or encouragement of violence;
- hate or discrimination based on characteristics such as origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability or health;
- sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual content, sexualisation of minors or sexual solicitation;
- promotion, preparation or instructions involving terrorism, weapons, drugs, fraud, hacking or other illegal activity;
- promotion of suicide or self-harm, while sincere requests for help and support remain welcome;
- disclosure of private information, impersonation, scams, fraud or manipulation;
- spam, repeated advertising, abusive recruitment or attempts to evade a removal;
- infringement of copyright, privacy, image rights or any other third-party right.
5. Powers of a talk host
The host may remove a participant from the microphone and immediately remove them from that talk. A removal prevents the relevant technical identifier from rejoining the same talk.
Hosts must not use these powers to harass, discriminate or abusively silence others. Leaving does not close a talk that still has participants, and the host cannot arbitrarily end an active conversation for everyone.
6. Moderation by Talk
Talk may reject or edit a topic, close a talk, remove access, prevent re-entry, limit a feature or block a device when necessary to enforce these rules, protect users, comply with law or secure the service.
Measures depend on severity, repetition and risk: a warning where possible, temporary restriction, removal from a talk or a longer ban. Immediate action may be taken for danger, clearly illegal content, serious threats, sexual exploitation, harm involving a minor or sanction evasion.
A report does not automatically prove a violation. Talk may consider context, available information and independent reports.
7. Reports and emergencies
Participants can report a talk or talker in the interface. Anyone may also report potentially illegal content by email, including the talk, date and time, observed name, precise facts and reply details.
Talk reviews reports in good faith, without discrimination and within a reasonable time. Where contact details are provided and the law requires it, Talk acknowledges receipt and communicates its decision.
Talk is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services where you are located.
8. Appealing a decision
A person affected by moderation may request a free review by emailing team.talk.app@outlook.com with the date, talk, random name, challenged decision and reasons for the appeal.
The appeal is reviewed impartially using the information still available. The absence of accounts and audio recordings may limit reconstruction of events. Talk may uphold, change or reverse the measure and provide the main reasons.
9. Responsibility and availability
Each participant is responsible for what they say, do and choose to share. Talk does not endorse user opinions or guarantee their accuracy or reliability.
The service is an MVP provided with the resources available. Talk does not guarantee continuous, error-free operation or the permanent absence of inappropriate content, but will act reasonably when notified of a problem.
10. Changes, termination and law
You may stop using Talk at any time. Talk may change the service or these terms for legal, technical or safety reasons. The update date will change and, where necessary, a visible notice will be provided.
These terms are governed by French law. The parties are encouraged to seek an amicable solution first, without limiting any remedies available by law.
